1. THE 1990FEES.GPA FILE
The 1990FEES.GPA file replaces the TEMPLATE.GPA file. This is a
template file which contains a details of fees and expenses.
As explained in the manual the template file is a previously
configured spreadsheet into which you can enter data
directly. The template file is not exhaustive and does not
contain every single feature of the Red Book. However you are
free to modify this file as you wish and may add in any further
items required. It is 178 rows in length and as the maximum size
of a template file is 200 rows it is possible to add a further
22 rows of your choice to it. The template file is split into two
main sections, one for income and one for expenses. At the bottom
of the income rows is a total income figure. At the bottom of
the expenses rows is a total expenses figure. At the very bottom
of the spreadsheet is a net practice income figure. The various
income and expense rows are listed below in the order they
appear in the template file.

2. WHITE PAPER MODIFICATIONS
The 1990FEES.GPA template file incorporates the new fees and
allowances for general practitioners. Details of the old fees and
allowances remain in the 1989FEES.GPA file.
3. INCREASED NUMBER OF ROWS
The manual states that the maximum number of rows is
150. This was true at the time the manual was produced but
since then the program has been enhanced and the maximum number
of rows increased to 200.
4. FLOPPY DISK DRIVE SYSTEMS
If you are using the GPA program on a floppy disk drive
system and do not have a hard disk drive please ensure that
you have a copy of COMMAND.COM on your program disk.
5. PRINTING TO THE SERIAL PORT
The GPA program has been designed to print via the parallel port.
However should your printer be attached to the serial port it is
still possible to print out the accounts. You will need to enter
the following two commands before loading and running the GPA
program. Do not forget to press the Enter key after entering each
command.
MODE COM<m>:<baud>,<parity>,<databits>,<stopbits>,P [Enter]
MODE LPT<n>:=COM<m>
The first command initialises the serial port. The second command
redirects output from the parallel port to the serial port.
For serial ports:
m - specifies the serial port number (1 or 2).
baud - specifies the transmission rate.
parity - specifies the parity (N, O or E).
databits - specifies either 7 or 8 bits of data.
stopbits - specifies the number of stopbits (1 or 2).
P - specifies that the serial port is being used for a serial
printer.
For parallel ports:
n - specifies the parallel port number (1, 2 or 3)
